A tennis week runs Monday to Sunday in the tennis tournament schedule, with qualifying often starting on the Saturday or Sunday before, which is why some events carry a Sunday start. For today's matches, court by court, the order of play on each tournament's own site is the final word.

The full ATP calendar 2027, month by month

Short answerThe 2027 season opens with the United Cup (Jan 1 - 10) and closes with the Davis Cup Finals (Nov 22 - 28). In between sit 59 ATP and 54 WTA events, four of them Grand Slams.

This is the ATP and WTA calendar for 2027, with the weeks still to play in 2026 at the top of the table: the men's tennis tournament schedule with the women's beside it, because the two tours share more weeks than most fans realise. Read it as a season in three acts.

January to March belongs to outdoor hard courts, from Australia through the Middle East to the Sunshine Double in California and Florida.

April to early June is the clay season in Europe and South America. A five-week grass sprint runs into Wimbledon, and from mid-July the tours go back to hard courts for the North American summer, the Asian swing and the indoor events in Europe that close the year.

Tournament weeks, 2027Each bar is one event, colored by surface. In the tier lanes, ATP sits on the upper half and WTA on the lower half. Pick a month to filter the table.

Season start and finish

When the tennis season starts, and when it really ends

Short answerThe 2027 season starts with the United Cup (Jan 1 - 10) and ends with the Davis Cup Finals (Nov 22 - 28). A short off-season follows before the next season begins.

The United Cup opens the 2027 season (Jan 1 - 10), and Auckland, Brisbane and Hong Kong fill the first two weeks, all leading into the first Grand Slam of the year. The four Grand Slams are the Australian Open (Jan 17 - 31), Roland Garros (May 23 - Jun 6), Wimbledon (Jun 28 - Jul 11) and US Open (Aug 29 - Sep 12). Most players land in Australia a week or two before New Year, which means the season effectively starts somewhere over the Indian Ocean on Christmas Day.

The end is messier. The ATP's regular season stops in early November, the ATP Finals follow (Nov 14 - 21 in Italy), and the WTA Finals run the week before (Nov 8 - 14 in Charlotte). Then the national teams take over, and the Davis Cup Finals (Nov 22 - 28 in Italy) keep a handful of players busy until the last days of November. The Next Gen ATP Finals for players aged 20 and under follow in December, outside the regular season and outside this table.

That leaves December. Players use it to rest, then to train, and an exhibition or two fills the gap. Nothing in December earns ranking points.

Tournament tiers

ATP and WTA tournaments, tier by tier

Short answerThe number in the name is the ranking points the singles champion earns. Grand Slams give 2,000, then 1,000, 500 and 250 down the ladder, on both tours.

Grand Slams

The Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open are run by their national federations and the All England Club, not by the tours, but both tours build their calendars around them. Each is two weeks long with a 128-player singles draw, and the men play best-of-five sets. A title is worth 2,000 ranking points, double a Masters 1000.

Masters 1000 and WTA 1000

The ATP has 9 Masters 1000 events this year: Indian Wells Open, Miami Open, Monte-Carlo Masters, Madrid Open, Italian Open, Canadian Open, Cincinnati Open, Shanghai Masters and Paris Masters. The WTA has 10 at the 1000 level: Qatar Open, Dubai Tennis Championships, Indian Wells Open, Miami Open, Madrid Open, Italian Open, Canadian Open, Cincinnati Open, China Open and Wuhan Open. Top players are committed to play most of them, which is why these weeks feel like small majors. Several run twelve days with 96-player draws.

ATP 500 tournaments and WTA 500

The ATP 500 tournaments in 2027 are Dallas Open, Rotterdam Open, Qatar Open, Rio Open, Dubai Tennis Championships, Mexican Open, BMW Open, Barcelona Open, Hamburg Open, Halle Open, Queen's Club Championships, Washington Open, China Open, Japan Open, Swiss Indoors and Vienna Open. On the women's side, the WTA 500 events are Brisbane International, Adelaide International, Abu Dhabi Open, Mérida Open, Charleston Open, Linz Open, Stuttgart Open, Internationaux de Strasbourg, Queen's Club Championships, Berlin Tennis Open, Bad Homburg Open, Washington Open, Monterrey Open, Guadalajara Open, Singapore Tennis Open, Ningbo Open and Pan Pacific Open. These are the events where a top-ten player turns up for a week, often the one before a big event on the same surface.

250 events

The biggest group on both tours and the most varied, from Brisbane and Auckland in January to the indoor weeks in Europe in late autumn. The 250s are where young players win their first titles and where a top seed shakes off rust; draws of 28 or 32 make them a five-match week at most.

Season finals

The eight best singles players of the year on each tour qualify for the season finals, played as two round-robin groups of four followed by semifinals and a final. An unbeaten champion takes 1,500 points.

Surfaces

The surfaces through the season

Short answerHard courts host most of the year. Clay owns April and May, grass has about five weeks in June and July, and the autumn moves indoors.

Share of tournament days by surfaceBoth tours, team events excluded. The figure under each column is the share of the leading surface that month.
  1. Jan100%
  2. Feb53%
  3. Mar83%
  4. Apr100%
  5. May100%
  6. Jun86%
  7. Jul42%
  8. Aug100%
  9. Sep90%
  10. Oct67%
  11. Nov59%

Surface is the single biggest reason a player's results swing through the year. Clay slows the ball and lifts the bounce, which rewards heavy topspin, patience and the sliding footwork players who grew up in Spain, Italy or Argentina learn as children. Grass keeps the ball low and fast, so a big serve and a short point carry more weight. Outdoor hard courts sit in between, and the indoor courts of the autumn take wind and sun out of the equation, which suits first-strike tennis.

The swaps between surfaces are where the calendar gets hard on bodies. The first grass events in Stuttgart, 's-Hertogenbosch and London start the day after the Roland Garros final, and three weeks later Wimbledon begins. After Wimbledon, the European clay events in Båstad, Gstaad, Umag, Kitzbühel and Estoril let clay specialists pick up points while the hard-court players fly to Washington.

The tours have stretched the big events in recent years. Seven of the nine Masters 1000 events now run over twelve days, which leaves fewer free weeks for rest between them. Many top players now plan their season around those blocks first and add the smaller events later.

Team events

Team events: United Cup, Davis Cup and Billie Jean King Cup

Short answerThree team competitions sit on the calendar: the mixed United Cup in January, the men's Davis Cup and the women's Billie Jean King Cup, each with qualifying ties during the year and a finals week.

  1. Jan 1 - 10

    United Cup

Perth and Sydney, Australia, outdoor hard. A mixed team event of men and women: each tie is a men's singles, a women's singles and a mixed doubles. It doubles as match practice for the Australian Open.

  2. Feb 1 - 7

    Davis Cup Qualifiers, first round

Home-and-away ties between national teams, each played on the surface the host picks; the winners go through to the final week.

  3. Sep 13 - 19

    Davis Cup Qualifiers, second round

Home-and-away ties between national teams, each played on the surface the host picks; the winners go through to the final week.

  4. Sep 24 - 26

    Laver Cup

Europe against the rest of the world over three days. An exhibition for prestige: it earns no ranking points.

  5. Nov 22 - 28

    Davis Cup Finals

Italy, indoor hard. The men's national-team final week: a knockout between the qualified nations, each tie best of three sets over singles and doubles.

This season's team events are United Cup (Jan 1 - 10), Davis Cup Qualifiers, first round (Feb 1 - 7), Davis Cup Qualifiers, second round (Sep 13 - 19), Laver Cup (Sep 24 - 26) and Davis Cup Finals (Nov 22 - 28). Team events earn no ATP or WTA ranking points. They count for national pride and prize money, and the tours keep those weeks free of tour events so the best players can take part.

Ranking points

How ranking points follow the calendar

Short answerRankings cover a rolling 52 weeks. Points from an event drop off when the same event comes round a year later, so every week of the calendar is a defence as well as a chance.

Think of a player's ranking as a year-long ledger that moves forward one week at a time. When the Paris Masters ends, last year's Paris points fall off and this year's go on. A player who won a title twelve months ago has to match it to stand still; a player who lost in the first round last year has almost nothing to lose. That is why commentators talk about points "to defend" and why the calendar shapes rankings as much as form does.

Not every result counts. The ATP ranking uses a player's best 19 results, with the Grand Slams and the mandatory Masters 1000 events included whether they played them or not, and the ATP Finals as a twentieth result for the eight who qualify. The WTA counts the best 18. Skipping a mandatory event without a valid reason leaves a zero in the column.

The year-end race works on a separate count that starts from zero in January and decides who goes to the season finals. By late October, the races on both tours are usually down to two or three places.

The 52-week windowEach week the window moves forward one step. The points a player won at an event a year ago fall off in the same week the new edition is played.

Rankings

Who leads the rankings, and how the calendar moves them

Short answerAlexander Zverev leads the ATP ranking and Elena Rybakina the WTA ranking, as of November 2, 2026. Every tournament on this page moves those numbers by the points its champion earns.

ATP ranking points

  1. 1 Alexander Zverev 9,550
  2. 2 Jannik Sinner 9,450
  3. 3 Carlos Alcaraz 6,100
  4. 4 Ben Shelton 4,530
  5. 5 Daniil Medvedev 3,860

WTA ranking points

  1. 1 Elena Rybakina 8,099
  2. 2 Aryna Sabalenka 6,485
  3. 3 Mirra Andreeva 6,306
  4. 4 Coco Gauff 5,763
  5. 5 Jessica Pegula 5,760

Singles rankings as of November 2, 2026. The calendar sets how fast these numbers move: a title worth 1,000 points is a tenth of a leader's total.

We only put a player's next tournament on a page once the entry is official. Rumoured schedules, withdrawals that have not been confirmed and "expected to play" lines from social media stay out. For a day-by-day answer, check the tournament's own order of play the evening before; it lists every match, court and start time. The calendar above shows every event still to come, and the entry lists for each tournament are published by the tours about six weeks before it starts.

Where to watch

Where to watch the ATP and WTA tournaments in the US

Short answerIn the US, Tennis Channel carries most ATP and WTA tour events and each Grand Slam has its own broadcaster, listed below with its source and the date it was checked.

  1. Australian Open with every court streaming on the ESPN app Source
  2. Roland Garros on TNT, truTV and HBO Max Source
  3. Wimbledon under an exclusive deal that runs through 2035 Source
  4. US Open under a deal that runs through 2037 Source
  5. ATP and WTA tour events Tennis Channel Covers most tour events in the US, with coverage that varies by event and round; ATP matches also stream on the ATP's own service. Check the tournament's page for that week's broadcaster.

US broadcast lines checked October 21, 2026. Rights outside the US differ by country. Network logos are trademarks of their owners, shown only to identify the broadcaster; we are not affiliated with them.

Time zones are the other half of watching. The Australian Open plays most of its night sessions in the early morning on the US East Coast, and the Asian swing in October has finals at 3 or 4 am Eastern. The North American hard-court summer is the easy stretch, since Washington, Toronto, Montreal, Cincinnati and New York all play in or near US prime time. Broadcast deals change, so check your provider's listings in the week of the event.

FAQ

ATP calendar questions, answered

Short answerThe questions readers ask most about the tennis schedule, with answers that follow the data on this page.

When does the tennis season start?

In the first week of January. The 2027 season opens with the United Cup (Jan 1 - 10), and Auckland, Brisbane and Hong Kong fill the first two weeks, all leading into the Australian Open.

When is the next Grand Slam?

The Australian Open in Melbourne, with the main draw starting on January 17, 2027. Qualifying and the opening-week events in Melbourne start the week before.

How are ATP tournaments categorized on the ATP calendar?

By the ranking points the champion earns: Grand Slams (2,000), Masters 1000, ATP 500 and ATP 250, plus the ATP Finals at the end of the year. The WTA uses the same labels for its 1000, 500 and 250 events.

How do ATP ranking points relate to the tournament calendar?

Rankings cover the last 52 weeks, so points from an event expire when that event comes round again a year later. A player who won a tournament has to defend those points in the same week the following season.

How many tournaments are on the ATP calendar in 2027?

Our 2027 ATP calendar lists 59 tour-level events, including the four Grand Slams and the ATP Finals. The Next Gen ATP Finals in December, the Laver Cup, Challenger and ITF events are not counted.

Which ATP 500 tournaments are there?

In 2027: Dallas Open, Rotterdam Open, Qatar Open, Rio Open, Dubai Tennis Championships, Mexican Open, BMW Open, Barcelona Open, Hamburg Open, Halle Open, Queen's Club Championships, Washington Open, China Open, Japan Open, Swiss Indoors and Vienna Open.

When are the ATP Finals and the WTA Finals?

The WTA Finals run Nov 8 - 14 in Charlotte. The ATP Finals run Nov 14 - 21 in Italy.

Which tournaments do the ATP and WTA play together?

14 events in 2027 have men's and women's draws in the same week and place, among them the four Grand Slams and the 1000-level events in Indian Wells, Miami, Madrid, Rome and Cincinnati.

Do the Davis Cup and the United Cup count for the rankings?

No. Team events award no ATP or WTA ranking points. They sit on the calendar because the tours keep those weeks free, not because they feed the rankings.

How long is the tennis off-season?

A few weeks. The Davis Cup Finals end on November 28, and the first tour events of the new season start in the opening days of January.

How do you check this calendar?

The data file is re-checked against the official ATP and WTA calendars every Monday, a weekly job looks for events the tours have added, moved or renamed, and the page moves its this-week marker every morning.

Can I add the calendar to my phone?

Yes. The .ics file next to the table lists every event on this page and works with Apple Calendar, Google Calendar and Outlook; download it again after a change to pick up the new dates.
