A quarterfinal in Vienna is worth €74,980, and a semifinal €146,765. For a player ranked around 40th, that is a sizeable share of a season's income in a single week, and it comes with 200 points for a semifinal. The champion's €511,835 is also larger than the winner's cheque at Basel, the other ATP 500 of the same week.

Doubles is paid per team, not per player. In 2025 the winning pair split €168,120, the runners-up €89,660 and a first-round loss still paid €11,740 per team. The ATP releases a new doubles table with each year's singles figures. Doubles points follow the same 500 scale as the singles at the top: 500 for the title, 300 for the final.

The totals tell the same story, rising from €2,470,310 to €2,736,875 and then €2,736,875. Vienna has paid a little more than Basel in each of those years, even though both are ATP 500s held the same week; see the Swiss Indoors Basel guide for its figures and the tennis prize money ledger for the rest of the tour.

The name

Vienna Open or Erste Bank Open?

In shortBoth. Erste Bank Open is the official name the ATP uses; Vienna Open is how most calendars and fans refer to the ATP 500 in the Austrian capital.

Tour events often carry the name of their title sponsor, and Vienna's is the Austrian bank Erste Bank, so the ATP's pages and the tournament itself use Erste Bank Open. Season calendars, including our tennis calendar, list it as the Vienna Open to keep the city front and center, the same way the Swiss Indoors is usually just "Basel". Search for either name and you are looking for the same tournament.

The ATP's preview for the 2025 edition called it the 51st staging of the tournament, which makes Vienna one of the longest-running indoor events in Europe. The tournament director is Herwig Straka.

The 2024 edition, the 50th, had a story of its own. Dominic Thiem, the 2019 champion and the last Austrian to win at home, chose Vienna for the final tournament of his professional career, and the week ended with Jack Draper beating Karen Khachanov 6-4, 7-5 for the title. A year later the ATP's preview put Sinner, Zverev, Alex de Minaur and Lorenzo Musetti at the top of the field, and Sinner, the top seed, met Zverev in the final.

Draw

The Wiener Stadthalle is a multi-purpose arena in the west of the city, used for concerts and sport the rest of the year. The court is laid inside it for one week in late October, and the tournament runs from Monday to the Sunday final, with the doubles draw starting midweek. Paris follows the next week, so most of the field travels on straight after the final. Because Vienna shares its week with Basel, the two events split the field. Some players come back year after year: Jannik Sinner won Vienna in 2023 and 2025, and Alexander Zverev in 2021.

The 2025 field is again strong for a 500. The ATP reported that Carlos Alcaraz accepted a wild card, his first visit since he reached the semifinals as an 18-year-old in 2021.
