Prize money per round
Citi Open prize money 2026, per round
In shortThe 2026 men's champion in Washington received $461,835 from $2,469,450 in ATP prize money. The women's champion received $252,000; the women's event's total commitment was $1,637,982.
Citi Open prize money is paid per player, in US dollars, for the furthest round reached. The table shows the 2026 singles payouts for both draws. Note that the two totals are not the same kind of number, because the ATP publishes the prize money for the men's event, while the WTA lists a "total financial commitment" for the women's, which can include costs beyond the prize pool.

Men and women
Mubadala DC Open: equal status, unequal prize money
In shortThe men's and women's events share a week, a venue and top billing, but not the same prize money. In 2026 the women's champion earned $252,000, about 55 percent of the men's $461,835.

Women's champion, 2026

Not equal prize money
Washington is the only event on the calendar where an ATP 500 and a WTA 500 are played together at the same site in the same week, and the organizers have made a point of treating the two draws alike on the schedule. The money has not caught up. In 2025 the gap was larger still: $420,525 for the men's champion against $197,570 for the women's, less than half.
The WTA's 2023 plan for equal prize money sets 2027 as the target for its combined 1000 and 500 events, which would include Washington. Until then the per-round tables follow each tour's own scale, and the women's first-round loser in 2026 took $17,440 against $19,260 for a men's loser in the round of 32.
Points
Citi Open prize money and points
In shortThe champion of each draw earns 500 ranking points. In 2026 an ATP runner-up took 330 points and a WTA runner-up 325; semifinalists earned 200 and 195.
| Round | ATP points | WTA points | ATP prize |
|---|---|---|---|
| Champion | 500 | 500 | $461,835 |
| Runner-up | 330 | 325 | $248,480 |
| Semifinal | 200 | 195 | $132,425 |
| Quarterfinal | 100 | 108 | $67,655 |
| Round of 16 | 50 | 60 | $36,115 |
Five hundred points is half a Masters 1000 title and a quarter of a Grand Slam, and Washington's timing gives them extra value, since it comes just before the Canadian event and Cincinnati, the two 1000s that lead into the US Open. The WTA scale gives slightly fewer points than the ATP's in the semifinal and final, and a few more in the quarterfinal and round of 16.

The name
From Citi Open to the Mubadala DC Open
In shortThe tournament was the Citi Open in 2021 and 2022, the Mubadala Citi DC Open from 2023 to 2025, and the ATP lists the 2026 edition as the Mubadala DC Open.
Most fans still call it the Citi Open, so this guide to the Citi Open prize money keeps that name. The event was founded in 1969 by Arthur Ashe, Donald Dell and John A. Harris, and over the decades it has carried a run of sponsor names. Mubadala, the Abu Dhabi investment company, arrived as co-title sponsor in 2023. On some of the tour's own pages the old and new names still sit side by side. The ATP's 2026 calendar article kept "Mubadala Citi DC Open" while its event pages switched to "Mubadala DC Open".
Andre Agassi is the event's most successful player, with 5 titles. The women's tournament is much younger, added in 2011 and upgraded to WTA 500 in 2023.
