The Erste Bank Open is a professional tennis tournament that will be played on hard courts at the Wiener Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria. Wiener Stadthalle is a world-renowned multi-purpose indoor arena and convention center located in the 15th district of Vienna, Austria. Designed by Austrian architect Roland Rainer, the original halls were constructed between 1953 and 1958, with expansions in 1974, 1994 and 2006. The main hall is Austria’s largest indoor arena and can seat up to 16,152 people.
The event is scheduled to take place between October 24 and October 30, 2022. The tournament features a singles draw of 32 players and a doubles draw of 16 teams. It is currently part of the ATP Tour and is classified as an ATP 500 event.
It’s the 48th edition of this tournament now. Last year’s event was won by Alexander Zverev, beating Frances Tiafoe in the final. Alexander Zverev will not defend his title as he is recovering from an injury, a bone edema. ATP Erste Bank Open Prize Money
The prize money purse at the ATP Erste Bank Open in Vienna has seen a significant increase for the 2022 tennis season. The total prize money on offer has reached an all-time high of €2,349,180, which is a 27.9% increase from the previous year. The champion in Vienna will receive just over 18% of that total – €439,305 if he wins the trophy. The runner-up will also receive a healthy payout, pocketing €€236,375 for his efforts. There is a significant drop off in prize money after the semi-final stage, with the two losing players in that round taking home €125,970 each. Those eliminated in the quarter-finals will receive €64,360 for their efforts. First-round losers will walk away with €18,325.
