The Swiss Indoors Basel is a professional tennis tournament that will be played on hard courts at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland. The St. Jakobshalle is a versatile arena that can accommodate a variety of events. With a capacity of 9,000 people, it is large enough to host major concert events and sports competitions. The arena originally opened in September 1976 and has been the home of the Swiss Indoors men’s tennis tournament since 1995.
The event is scheduled to take place between October 24 and October 30, 2022. The tournament features a singles draw of 32 players and a doubles draw of 16 teams. It is currently part of the ATP Tour and is classified as an ATP 500 event.
It’s the 51st edition of this tournament now. Last two years the tournament was not held because of COVID-19 pandemic. In 2019 the Swiss Roger Federer, who beat Alex de Minaur in the final, celebrated the victory. Unfortunately, Federer finished his career and will not participate in this tournament. ATP Swiss Indoors Basel Prize Money
The prize money purse at the ATP Swiss Indoors in Basel has seen a small increase for the 2022 tennis season. The total prize money on offer has reached an all-time high of €2,135,350, which is a 2.53% increase from 2019. The champion in Basel will receive just over 18% of that total – €399,320 if he wins the trophy. The runner-up will also receive a healthy payout, pocketing €214,855 for his efforts. There is a significant drop off in prize money after the semi-final stage, with the two losing players in that round taking home €114,505 each. Those eliminated in the quarter-finals will receive €58,505 for their efforts. First-round losers will walk away with €16,655
