Jelena Ostapenko: I try to learn to play more patiently

Latvian tennis player Jelena Ostapenko finished the year 2020 on the 44th line of the WTA ranking without winning a single trophy in the season. Of course, most of all it was due to the pandemic, which caused the cancellation of most of the tournaments. But Jelena did not manage to gain the game form for the remaining tournaments, so she decided to focus on the next season.

In an interview with TVnet Elena Ostapenko told about what she is working on in the off-season and how she plans to improve her game.

“Now my work is aimed at making fewer mistakes when hitting. I try to make winners only in the most favorable situations, and not with every ball. It is not easy, because from a young age I am used to act aggressively.
On a high level, opponents rarely make mistakes. In some episodes I play patiently, but then the old Elena appears, who wants to score every ball. However, I’m working on myself and I already see progress”
