The Guadalajara Open also known as Guadalajara Open AKRON for sponsorship purposes is a professional tennis tournament that will be played on hard courts at the Centro Panamericano de Tenis in Guadalajara, Mexico. The Panamerican Tennis Center is one of the premier tennis facilities in the world. Home to the main court with a capacity of 2,592,8 and 4 additional practice courts, the complex draws top players from around the globe. The facility was officially opened on October 15th, 2010 in a star-studded ceremony featuring Andre Agassi and Jim Courier.
The event is scheduled to take place between October 17 and October 23, 2022. The tournament features a singles draw of 56 players and a doubles draw of 28 teams. It is currently part of the WTA Tour and is classified as a WTA 1000 event.
It’s the first edition of this tournament now, so we don’t have a defending champion. The tournament will feature many of the top female tennis players in the world and is sure to be an exciting event for both fans and players alike. Who will take home the trophy this year? The champion in Guadalajara will take home just over 15% of that overall figure, with $380,000 heading their way should they lift the trophy. The runner-up will also receive a healthy payout, pocketing $224,000 for their efforts. There is a significant drop off in prize money after the semi-final stage, with the two losing players in that round taking home $115,289 each. Those eliminated in the quarter-finals will receive $53,000 for their efforts. First-round losers will walk away with $10,820.
