Angelique Kerber: The clay season was waiting, but so far things are not going well.

German Angelique Kerber commented on the decision to withdraw from the tournament in Madrid due to injury.

“I think the injury is not very serious, but I could not show my best game. It hurts me to walk, so I decided not to risk and save strength for the remaining soil tournaments. Besides, the pain is clearly not what you need before the match, in which will have to run a lot. I was really waiting for the ground season, but so far things are not going the best way: first I got sick, and now I injured my ankle.

However, I’m moving forward. There is still a tournament in Rome, and now I will go home to recover and return to the court. I hope I will be able to play there, because I have a few more days, “the WTA press service quoted Kerber as saying.
