Angelique Kerber was born January 18, 1988 in Bremen, Germany. Angelique is one of two daughters in the Polish family of Beata and Slawomir Kerber. She began playing tennis at the age of three. Now as a residence Kerber is the Polish city of Puszczykowo.
At the same time, Angelique was seriously engaged in swimming, showed high results in local competitions, but eventually focused on tennis. Parents promoted their daughter’s hobby, and her mother is still her manager.
Kerber began her professional career in 2003. The following season she won her first ITF tournament title and in 2006 she won her first WTA main event title.
Angelique speaks three languages – German, Polish and English. She calls Steffi Graf her childhood idol. In her free time, Kerber likes to go shopping and meet friends, as well as watch movies and sports broadcasts.
