Stan Wawrinka won the starting bout in Madrid

The 34th World No., Swiss Stan Wawrinka, beat Frenchman Pierre-Hugues  Herbert, who is in the 41st line of the ATP rating, with a 6/2, 6/3 score at the start of the Masters in Madrid.

The match lasted 1 hour and 4 minutes. During this time, the 34-year-old Wawrinka performed three aces, made a mistake twice in the serve and realized three break points, and the 28-year-old Herber once served right through, made four double mistakes and didn’t make a single break.

This was the first official meeting of athletes. In the second round of the Mutua Madrid Open competition, Wawrinka will fight Russian Daniil Medvedev or Argentinean Guido Pella.
