Stan Wawrinka was born March 28, 1985 in Lausanne, Switzerland. His father Wolfram is German and his mother Isabelle is Swiss. Stan has a brother Jonathan and two sisters Djanaée and Naélla. Wawrinka started playing tennis at the age of eight.

Stan now lives in Monte Carlo, Monaco. The tennis player began his professional career in 2002, taking several Challenger titles the following season and making his ATP tournament debut.
