Romanian tennis player Simona Halep overcame the barrier of the 1/4 finals in Madrid, beating Australian Ashleigh Barty – 7/5, 7/5.
The match lasted 1 hour and 31 minutes. The third racket of the world, 27-year-old Simone, made four breaks and two aces, having made a mistake once when serving. 23-year-old Ashleigh, who is in ninth place in the WTA ranking, took the opponent’s pitch twice, made five aces and three double faults.
Romanian widened the gap in the personal meetings of athletes – 3: 1. In the semifinals of the Mutua Madrid Open tournament, Halep will play with Swiss Belinda Bencic.
