Czech tennis player Karolina Pliskova overcame the barrier of the first round of the tournament in Madrid, beating Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska – 5/7, 7/6 (5), 6/3.
The match lasted 2 hours and 17 minutes. The fifth racket of the world, 27-year-old Karolina, recorded three breaks and 11 aces, making a mistake twice when serving. 18-year-old Dayana, who occupies the 38th place in the WTA ranking, took a rival three times, made eight aces and as many double mistakes. Previously between the athletes have not met.
In the second round of the Mutua Madrid Open competition, Plishkova will face off with either Chinese Zhang Shuai or with another Ukrainian, Katerina Kozlova.
