Monica Puig overcame the barrier of the first round at the tournament in Auckland

The 53rd racket of the world, Puerto rican Monica Puig, beat the American Bethany Mattek-Sands, who occupies the 362nd line of the WTA rating, with a score of 6/3, 6/2 at the start of the ASB Classic tournament. The match lasted 1 hour and 14 minutes. During this time, 25-year-old Puig has completed three aces and has implemented five break points, and 33-year-old Mattek-Sands once filed through and made one break. Earlier in personal meetings was 3: 1 in favor of an American. Puig’s next rival in Auckland will be either Sue Su-Wei from Taiwan or Polona Herzog from Slovene.
