ATP Japan Open Prize Money
The Japan Open Tennis Championships is set to return in 2022 after a hiatus due to the pandemic, with a prize purse of $1,953,285. This is a 3.06% increase from the prize money awarded in 2019. The champion of the tournament will receive $365,275, which is 6.7% less than what Novak Djokovic won when he took home the title in 2019. However, prize money for first-round losers and qualifiers buck the trend, with 5.7% and 4.4% increases respectively. Therefore, although prize money for the overall winner has decreased, there are still opportunities for athletes to take home larger sums of money than in previous years. With the return of this popular event, it will be interesting to see how the competition unfolds and who takes home the top prize.
