American tennis player Venus Williams overcame the barrier of the first round of the tournament in Birmingham, beating belorussian Aliaksandra Sasnovich – 6/3, 6/4.
For 1 hour 21 minutes of the match, the 55th racket of the world, 39-year-old Venus, implemented four break points, made one ace and five double faults. 25-year-old Sosnovich, who is in 36th place in the WTA ranking, took the opponent’s bid twice, made one ace and four double faults.
