Australian tennis player Ashleigh Barty overcame the barrier of the first round of competitions in Madrid, defeating her compatriot Daria Gavrilova – 6/1, 6/2.
The match lasted 1 hour and 4 minutes. The ninth racket of the world, 23-year-old Ashley, recorded six breaks and five aces, mistaken twice when serving. 25-year-old Gavrilova, who occupies 58th place in the WTA ranking, took the opponent’s bid twice and made five double faults.
Barty increased the gap in the personal meetings of athletes – 3: 1. In the second round of the Mutua Madrid Open tournament, Barty will play either with the American Danielle Collins or with the “qualifier”.
