German tennis player Angelique Kerber commented on reaching the final of the Indian Wells tournament.
“She started the match very well. In the first games, I tried to find my rhythm, my tennis, and then began to play more aggressively. It helped me to take the initiative. I tried to concentrate on my game, not my opponent. I knew that Belinda would fight to the last, so I tried to act the same.
I tried to stick to my game plan because I knew how she played, and she knew my tennis. Previous matches also helped me understand exactly how to play against Belinda.
After tournaments in Australia, I began to realize that I was on the right track. I try to improve my tennis, I work hard in training. But when you go to court, everything becomes a little different, because nerves, pressure appear, each time you have a new rival with your style of play.
