Three years later, the family relocated to Florida to provide the girls with better opportunities, considering it is the home of the renowned Nick Bolletieri Tennis Academy, where Maria Sharapova once trained. Alycia admired Serena Williams and decided to forgo college scholarships to focus on her professional tennis career.
Alycia’s early years in tennis were not marked with great success. She mainly played in domestic ITF tournaments and struggled to progress beyond the first or second rounds. Her first final appearance was in 2019 at the 15,000-level tournament in Shreveport but lost to Xie Shuwei. Her debut title win came months later in Orlando against fellow American Robin Montgomery.
