ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam (Holland) will undoubtedly be the most interesting men’s tournament of the week. The net is somewhat reminiscent of the second half of the recently concluded Melbourne Slam: Three Russians and Tsitsipas. Daniil Medvedev tops the leaderboard and should be considered the tournament’s favorite.
Daniil’s set: Lajovic, Cioric, Auger, Zverev. Probably the hardest route to the final of all the seeded tennis players, but the Russian will still be the favorite in every match. The history of head-to-head encounters also indicates that Medvedev will have trouble in each match: Lajovic 1-1, Ćorić 3-4, Auger 1-0, Zverev 4-5.
Karen Khachanov and Andrey Rublev will play in the second half of the schedule. Andrey and Stefanos Tsitsipas must be considered the main favorites in this part of the schedule.
Rublev’s path to the final: Qualifier, Murray/Haase, Goffin, Tsitsipas.
Tsitsipas’ path to the final: Gerasimov, Gurkach, Wawrinka, Rublev.
Andrey and Stefanos might have an even fight in the semifinals, with a slight preference for the latter. The opponents are tied 4-3 in favor of the Greek, with Tsitsipas winning his last two matches on hard court as well. Both have improved of late, both failed the Medvedev test in Melbourne, and both are particularly good on this surface.
Also starting here is Karen Khachanov, whose prospects seem less bright. Karen starts with a match against Stan Wawrinka, and already the starting meeting should be a serious test for the Russian.
He will be making his first semifinal between Medvedev and Zverev, Rublev and Tsitsipas.
