Karolina Pliskova is a female professional tennis player from the Czech Republic who attained World Number 1 in 2017 and currently ranks 22nd in the world Singles category. She has an identical twin named Kristyna Pliskova, who also plays tennis (currently inactive) and is two minutes older than Karolina.

Karolina and her twin sister were born in Louny, Czech Republic, to the family of Radek Plisek and Martina Pliskova on the 21st of March, 1992. Not so much is known about his childhood of Karolina and how she got into playing tennis, but she certainly started playing at a very tender age since she became a pro at just 17 in 2009.

The tennis star made her first wave as a junior player in 2010 when she won the 2010 Australian Open Junior Girls’ title defeating British Laura Robson in the final. Two years after, she earned herself a place at the French Open to mark a Grand Slam professional debut in 2012, although she lost in the first round to the then World Number 8, Marion Bartoli.

Karolina soon bounced back in 2013 when she won her first professional title at the Malaysian Open after defeating several top-seeded players in the tournament. She made history with her sister, Kristyna, before the year ran out when they won the Doubles title at the Generali Ladies Tour in Linz. Hence, they became the first twin to win a Doubles title on this tour.

Since then, Karolina has won 21 titles, including 16 Singles titles and 5 Doubles titles. She has also attained the highest ranking of World Number 1 achieved on the 17th of July, 2017, and a career highest ranking of 11 in the Doubles category.

Karolina currently ranks 22 and 350 in the Singles and Doubles categories.

Who Is The Current Coach Of Karolina Pliskova? 

At the moment, Karolina Pliskova is without a head coach after she split up with her most recent coach, Leos Friedl. She worked with Leos at the Cincinnati Open after she ended her relationship with a popular German coach Sasha Bajin.

However, she still trains and plays for the Sparta Praha Tennis Club and works with her second coach, Olga Savchuk. Olga was a former Ukrainian female tennis player who could record 3 Doubles titles during her playing days without a Singles title. She had acted as the second coach of Karolina since 2019 when Daniel Vallverdu was her head coach.

She will act as her main coach at the 2022 US Open and has won several titles with her, especially during the 2019 season when Karolina won 3 Singles titles. Other team members include her fitness coaches, Martin Nosko and Ivan Trebaticka.

Leos Friedl

Karolina briefly worked with Leos during the 2022 Cincinnati Open after she announced her sudden separation from her 20-month coach, Sasha Bajin. Leos and Karolina had previously worked during the 2021 tennis season when Leos came on board to replace Sasha, who could not travel with her to the Wimbledon and US Open.

Nevertheless, the relationship was short and did not survive more than a month.

Leos is an ex-professional tennis player from the Czech Republic who did not achieve quite a groundbreaking career, although he was able to break into the top 15 rankings in the world. He was an exceptional team player and won 16 Doubles career titles on the tour. Before he worked with Karolina, we could not lay hands on the trainee he had worked with; definitely, the relationship did not add to her title collection.

Sascha Bajin

Bajin became the coach of Karolina after his relationship with Osaka came to an abrupt end. He took charge of the tennis star in 2020 and enjoyed some amazing runs with her, although they could not win a title to cap their partnership.

Nonetheless, Bajin led Karolina to three finals, with the biggest one, the 2021 Wimbledon, which she lost to Ashleigh Barty.

Bajin is a German tennis coach who played tennis for a while and attained a career highest ranking of 1149 and 1180 in the Singles and Doubles categories, respectively.

The German coach was well-known as the former hitting partner of Serena Williams for eight years and the coach of Japanese sensational Naomi Osaka. Following his success with Osaka, he was awarded the WTA Coach of the year in 2018.

He has also worked with Kristina Mladenovic,  Dayana Yastremska, and Sloane Stephens (hitting partner).

Daniel Vallverdu

Before working with Bajin, Karolina was previously coached by Venezuelan coach Daniel Vallverdu.  During his playing days, he was also an ex-tennis player and did not make it to the top 500 in both the Singles and Doubles categories. However, he has been highly successful as a coach.

Daniel began working with Karolina in November 2019 while coaching Stan Wawrinka and helped her reclaim the Brisbane International Open in early 2020. They later ended the relationship due to time commitment issues.

The Venezuelan coach is still working with Swiss Stan Wawrinka and has worked with the likes of Andy Murray, whom he reconciled with for the 2022 tennis season, Tomáš Berdych (2014–2016), Grigor Dimitrov (2016–2019), and Juan Martín del, Andre Agassi and so on.

Conchita Martinez

Conchita Martinez was an ex-Spanish professional coach and worked with Karolina throughout the 2019 tennis season. Conchita was an exceptional tennis player and recorded successes throughout her tennis career. She won 46 career titles, including 33 singles and 13 doubles.

She also became the first Spanish female tennis player to win a title at Wimbledon at the 1994 US Open. Conchita is currently working with Garbine Muguruza, which is why she split up with Karolina. During their partnership, Conchita guided Karolina to four Singles career titles.

Rennae Stubbs

Karolina also worked shortly with Rennae for the 2018 US Open after she ended her partnership with Tomas Krupa. The relationship was cut short for the ex-Australian tennis player to return to her career as a tennis commentator.

Stubbs was more of a Doubles specialist with 60 Doubles titles and 10 Doubles titles at the WTA and ITF, respectively. She has worked with the likes of Samantha Stosur, and Genie Bouchard and was a part of Serena Williams’s coaching team during her proposed final tournament (2022 US Open).

Tomáš Krupa

Krupa worked with Karolina between 2017 and 2018 before Stubbs took over from him.  The infamous coach also played tennis and was more of a Doubles specialist. He has also worked with Tomas Berdych, Radek Stepanek, Jiri Vesely, and Barbora Strycova.

David Kotyza

David Kotyza took charge of Karolina after she ended her partnership with Jiri Vanek. Under David, Karolina attained her highest career ranking of world number 1 in 2017. However, David was more famous for being the coach of Petra Kvitova.

Currently, David works with Karolina Muchova after splitting up with Petra in 2020.

Jiří Vaněk

Jiri was the coach of Karolina between 2014 and 2016 and was significant for her development into a world-class player. Jiri hails from the Czech Republic and currently coaches Petra Kvitova. He was not so exceptional as a tennis player since he achieved more on the ITF circuits.
