Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina failed to reach the 1/8 finals of the tournament in Rome, losing to Belarusian Victoria Azarenka – 6/4, 1/6, 5/7.
The fight lasted 2 hours and 16 minutes. The sixth racket of the world, 24-year-old Elina, took the rival seven times and made eight double faults. 29-year-old Victoria, who is on the 51st position in the world table of ranks, sold ten break points, completed one ace and was wrong four times when serving.
Belarus remains the leader in the personal meetings of athletes – 3: 0. In the third round of the Internazionali BNL d’Italia competition, Azarenka will play either with Spaniard Garbine Muguruza or with American Danielle Collins.
