Czech Karolina Pliskova commented on her victory over Romanian Simona Halep in the semifinals and the upcoming meeting with Australian Ashleigh Barty in Miami.
“I worked perfectly in the second game. In my opinion, Halep could have played better. Perhaps, she was disappointed with the result of the first set, which did not go according to her script. On my part there were a number of excellent blows. After the decisive break in the first game, the meeting changed. I was pleased with my level of play. Of course, now I am confident in my abilities, it helps a lot. After a couple of matches won, you start hitting the ball without hesitation. This is possible thanks to good gaming practice.
As for the meeting with Barty, her style of play is different from my previous rivals. She often tries to pierce through, and also uses sliced backhand blows and pitch. Ashley moves perfectly on the court and understands the game. Everything will depend on me, as it was already more than once this season. It is impossible to deny that Barti is a great tennis player, but I can beat her, ”the WTA press service quoted Pliskova as saying.
