The WTA Western & Southern Open, also known as the Cincinnati WTA 1000 event, is a women’s tennis tournament that will take place from 14 August to 21 August 2022 on the hard courts in Cincinnati, the United States of America.
The tournament is part of the WTA 1000 series and will feature some of the best female tennis players in the world. The projected top seeds for the tournament are Anett Kontaveit (WR No.1), Iga Swiatek (WR No.2), Maria Sakkari (WR No.3), and Paula Badosa (WR No.4). With such a star-studded field, the WTA Cincinnati promises to be an exciting event for tennis fans around the world.
WTA Cincinnati Entry List
The WTA 1000 Cincinnati entry list has been announced and it includes some of the biggest names in tennis. Headlining the event are Anett Kontaveit and Iga Swiatek. Also included in the field are former World No. 1 Garbiñe Muguruza , as well as current Top 10 players Ons Jabeur, Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula. There will be a new champion at this year’s Western & Southern Open event, as reigning champion Ash Barty has finished her professional career and will not take part in the tournament.

Ashleigh Barty of Australia is the defending champion at the WTA Western & Southern Open singles tournament. She beat Jil Teichmann of Switzerland 6/3, 6/1 in the singles final of the 2021 tournament.
Women’s singles champions
Doubles
Samantha Stosur and Zhang Shuai are the defending champions in the Men’s doubles event in Cincinnati. The pair beat Gabriela Dabrowski and Luisa Stefani 7/5,6/3 in the final in 2021 to take home the title. It was a hard-fought match, but Stosur and Zhang Shuai were ultimately victorious.
