Stefanos Tsitsipas was born on August 12, 1998, in Athens, Greece, to Apostolos Tsitsipas and Julia Apostoli. His father is Greek and was born in Proastio, Karditsa, and his mother is Russian. Both of his parents are tennis players with a lot of experience.

Tsitsipas had a breakout year in 2016, reaching the quarterfinals or better in all eight events he entered, including all four Grand Slams. After winning his first Grade A championship at the Trofeo Bonfiglio, he became the world’s, top-ranked junior. Later in the year, Tsitsipas won the European Junior Championships.

He became the first Greek man to win a junior Grand Slam in the Open Era, and the second overall, after Nicky Kalogeropoulos won both the French Open and Wimbledon in 1963.

The Greek tennis star is coached by his father Apostolos Tsitsipas and assisted by Thomas Enqvist, it was revealed during an interview session with the player during which he registered Thomas Enqvist as his new coach, he also stated that his father is also his coach.

While there have been a few notable on-court confrontations involving the father and son, Apostolos has spoken up about their relationship off the court, which he said “Our cooperation is completely harmonious, and it is my pleasure to work with Stefanos because I love him, as I love my other children.”

With his father’s coaching before Enqvist joined the team, Tsitsipas won a lot of trophies in his career, but the most notable mention was when he won the Monte Carlo Masters twice and Nitto ATP Finals in 2019.

Tsitsipas invited Thomas Enqvist while working with his father, and they began working together in early February 2022. They previously worked together at the Laver Cup, where Enqvist is Team Europe’s vice-captain.

Enqvist was a key member of Sweden’s Davis Cup squad. He helped Sweden reach the Davis Cup finals for the fourth time in five years in 1998.

He presently works for Eurosport in Sweden as a pundit. Enqvist is also Team Europe’s vice-captain in the Laver Cup, a role he has held from the tournament’s inception.
