Latvian tennis player Jelena Ostapenko went to the second round of the tournament in Charleston, beating Sweden Johanna Larsson, – 6/1, 6/4.
For 1 hour and 13 minutes of the match, the 31st racket of the world, 21-year-old Jelena, implemented four break points, made two aces and was mistaken seven times when serving. Larsson, 30, who is ranked 88th in the WTA ranking, took the opponent’s shot one time and made one double mistake.
Latvian remains the leader in the personal meetings of the athletes – 3: 0. Ostapenko’s next rival in the Volvo Car Open competition will be American Shelby Rogers.
