Sloane Stephens was born in Fort Lauderdale, USA, and started playing tennis at the age of nine when her mother Sybil Smith brought her to a club in Fresno, California, where they were living at the time.

She began her career in 2007, competing in an ITF event in Brazil. Three years later she made her WTA main event debut and finished the 2011 season as the youngest player to ever play in the Top 100.

Stephens now resides in Plantation Town, USA. The athlete founded a charitable foundation, which aims to build courts where tennis could be taught to children from low-income families.
