Belarus Victoria Azarenka overcame the barrier of the first round of the tournament in Miami, defeating Slovak Dominika Cibulkova – 6/2, 3/6, 6/4.
The fight lasted 2 hours and 31 minutes. The 46th World No. 29, Victoria, made six breaks and nine aces, making the wrong mistake five times. Her age-mate Cibulkova, who occupies the 35th place in the WTA ranking, took the opponent four times in a row and made seven double mistakes.
Belarus remains the leader in the personal meetings of athletes – 9: 5. In the second round of the Miami Open competition, Azarenka will play with French Caroline Garcia.
