The 2022 Korea Open will be a joint ATP Tour and WTA Tour tennis tournament held in Seoul, South Korea. This is the first time since 1996 that a men’s tournament will be held in Korea, and the 18th edition of the women’s tournament. The tournament will take place at the Olympic Park Tennis Center on hard courts from 19 to 25 September for the women and from 26 September to 2 October for the men. The event is a WTA 250 event on the 2022 WTA Tour, and an ATP Tour 250 event on the 2022 ATP Tour. This is a result of several tournaments in China being cancelled due to Covid. With top players competing across both Tours, the Korea Open is sure to be an exciting event for tennis fans around the world.
WTA Korea Open Prize Money
Prize money at the Hana Bank Korea Open has increased by 118.91% compared to last year, though this is not a fair comparison as last year’s event was rescheduled and demoted to WTA 125 level. Compared to 2019, when it had equivalent status, prize money is just 0.70% higher. The total prize money pool for 2022 is $251,750. The Hana Bank Korea Open champion will receive $33,200, down -22.79% compared to the amount Karolina Muchova won when she lifted the trophy in 2019. Despite the decrease in prize money for the champion, the overall increase in prize money indicates that the Hana Bank Korea Open is committed to attracting top talent and providing a memorable experience for all participants.
