Dutch tennis player Kiki Bertens overcame the barrier of the first round of the tournament in Sydney, beating American Bernarda Pera in two sets – 7/5, 6/4. For 1 hour and 45 minutes of the match, the ninth racket of the world, 27-year-old Kiki, recorded three breaks and nine aces, once wrong when serving. 24-year-old Pera, who occupies the 69th place in the WTA ranking, once took a rival’s pitch, made one ace and five double mistakes. Previously between the athletes have not met. In the second round of the Sydney International competition, Bertens will play with the strongest in the opposition of the Spaniards Garbine Muguruza and Carla Suarez Navarro.
