Argentine tennis player Juan Martin Del Potro overcame the barrier of the first round of the competition in London, beating Canadian Denis Shapovalov – 7/5, 6/4.
For 1 hour and 15 minutes of the duel, the 12th racket of the world, 30-year-old Juan Martin, made two breaks and 11 aces, making a mistake twice when serving. 20-year-old Shapovalov, occupying the 25th place in the ATP rating, made ten aces and two double mistakes. Previously, the score in the personal meetings of the players was equal – 1: 1.
In the second round of the Fever-Tree Championships, Del Potro will play either with Hungarian Marton Fucsovics or with Spaniard Feliciano Lopez.
