Romanian tennis player Simona Halep could not overcome the barrier of the quarterfinals of the tournament in Dubai, losing in three sets to the Swiss Belinda Bencic – 6/4, 4/6, 2/6.
The match lasted 2 hours and 17 minutes. The second racket of the world, 27-year-old Halep, took the rival’s pitch five times, made eight breaks and 13 aces. 21-year-old Belinda, who occupies the 45th place in the world classification, made seven breaks and one ace, making four wrong mistakes when serving.
The Swiss went ahead in the personal meetings of the athletes – 2: 1. In the semifinals of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, Bencic will play with Ukrainian Elina Svitolina.
