Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina broke the barrier of the first round of the Indian Wells tournament, beating American Sofia Kenin in three sets – 3/6, 7/6 (5), 6/4.
For 2 hours and 21 minutes of the match, the sixth racket of the world, 24-year-old Elina, made three breaks and six aces, having made a mistake five times when serving. 20-year-old Kenin, took a rival’s serve three times, made one ace and four double faults.
Before each other athletes have not met. In the third round of the BNP Paribas Open competition, Svitolina will face Daria Gavrilova from Australia.
