Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka overcame the barrier of the 1/8 finals of the tournament in Strasbourg, beating the German Laura Siegemund, – 6/4, 6/3.
For 1 hour and 28 minutes of the match, the 11th racket of the world, 21-year-old Aryna, sold five break points and was wrong six times when serving. 31-year-old Siegemund, which occupies the 99th position in the world classification, took the opponent three times, made one ace and three double mistakes.
Previously between the athletes have not met. In the quarterfinals of the Internationaux de Strasbourg competition, Sabalenka will fight Monica Puig of Puerto Rico.
