Swiss tennis player Stan Wawrinka could not overcome the barrier of the first round of the tournament in Sofia, losing in three sets to Romanian Marius Copil – 6/3, 6/7 (5), 4/6.
For 1 hour 47 minutes of the match, the 57th racket of the world, 33-year-old Wawrinka, once took an opponent’s pitch, made 13 aces and one double mistake. 28-year-old Mariusz, who occupies the 56th position in the world classification, made one break and 11 aces, making one mistake when serving. The Swiss remains the leader in the personal meetings of the players – 2: 1.
In the second round of the Sofia Open competition, Copil will play either with Bulgarian Aleksandar Lazarov or with Spaniard Fernando Verdasco.
