Jiri Hrebec

Jiri Hrebec is a former professional tennis player and currently a coach from the Czech Republic. He was born on September 19, 1950, in Teplice, Czechoslovakia. In his playing career, Hřebec had a highest ranking of 25th in the ATP tour in singles in April 1974. He won three ATP Tour singles titles and four doubles titles. His style of play was characterized by swift movements and a versatile all-court game.

In 1968, he became the junior champion of Czechoslovakia in singles, and in 1969, he finished the season 4th in the world junior rankings (under 21). In 1971, he became the men’s champion of Czechoslovakia in both singles and doubles, as well as the indoor champion of Scandinavia.

Hřebec made his Davis Cup debut for Czechoslovakia in 1972. Despite some strong performances, his overall Davis Cup record was 17 wins and 12 losses in singles and 1 win and 4 losses in doubles. His most significant Davis Cup moment came in 1975, when he played two singles matches in the final against Sweden.

In 1981, Hřebec and his wife emigrated to Germany, returning to the Czech Republic permanently in 1997. Since then, he has been working as a tennis coach. Notably, he is the coach of Marketa Vondrousova, a promising Czech professional player. Despite a hip surgery in 2010, Hřebec continues his coaching work. He has two daughters, one of whom lives in Germany with his first wife and grandchild.

Jan Hernych

Jan Hernych is a retired professional tennis player from the Czech Republic, who turned professional in 1998. He achieved his highest singles ranking of World No. 59 in April 2009. During his career, he won one doubles title and was the runner-up in ‘s-Hertogenbosch in 2006.
