Who Is Ekaterina Alexandrova’s Coach in 2023?

Ekaterina Alexandrova is a Russian female professional tennis player born on the 15th of November, 1994. Although born in Russia, she started playing tennis at 6 (2000) in Prague, Czech Republic, due to the city’s surplus availability of local tennis facilities.

However, she did not start gaining recognition until 2016, after turning professional five years back (2011). In 2016, she made her WTA Tour Singles debut at the Katowice Open, and her victory in the first round against Klara Koukalova was enough to get her some attention.

Before this, she had already won five (5) titles on the ITF Circuit and later won two (2) more to take her ITF titles to a total of seven (7). She has also won four (4) titles on the WTA Tour, which includes three (3) Singles and one (1) Doubles title. The Russian also has three (3) titles at the WTA 125 and a Billie Jean King Cup with her country.

Who Is The Current Coach Of Ekaterina Alexandrova?

Ekaterina currently works with her father, Evgeny Alexandrova, and former Czech Republic professional tennis player, Vojtech Flegl as stated on the WTA official website. Reports have it that she has been with her father since she started her career and, at one point, worked with some other coaches, including Petr Kralert, before pairing her father up with Vojtech.

Vojtech Flegl

Vojtech Flegl is an ex-professional Czech Republic tennis player who marched the court in the 90s. He was quite a successful team player, winning 5 Doubles titles with no Singles titles during his time. He also attained a career-highest rank of 58 in the Doubles before retirement.

It is not known when Vojtech Flegl joined Ekaterina’s team as she has always been quite secretive about her coaches except for her father and physio, Petr Pekh, who has been with her since 2010.

However, her recent amazing run, which has led her to win two (2) titles so far this year, suggests that Vojtech must have joined her team about one (1) to two (2) years ago.

Evgeny Alexandrova

Her father, Evgeny Alexandrova, is believed to have introduced her to the game and has been her coach since then. He also taught her siblings to the game, although her brother now plays hockey while her sister is into basketball.

Ekaterina is happy to have her father on her team and believes he is satisfied to also work with her. In her words, when she made the World’s top 50 and became Russian number 1;

“He is very happy for me and that I have had a rather good season. But I can’t say he is getting lenient on me because of that.

On the contrary, he understands that I am at the Top50 now, and if I want to stay there for good, I have to work better. And I agree with him. He is happy, and at the same time, he understands we have to work more.”

Previous Coaches Of Ekaterina Alexandrova

It was discovered that Ekaterina had worked with different coaches in her career development which was made known by her during an interview in 2019 when she said the following;

“Yeah, my father introduced me to tennis, and he always was with me throughout my tennis career. Of course, there were other coaches, but he always was with me, helping out. I also have my fitness and tennis coaches, but they are not traveling with me.”

However, her coaches are not publicized, although we found out that she had previously worked with Martin Fosaty and Petr Kralert.

Martin Fosaty

Martin Fosaty was her head coach until the end of the 2019 season, when her father took over as usual at the start of the 2020 tennis season. There are no details about who he was and how he got into tennis coaching. This is why you cannot find him and his predecessors among the recognized coaches of Ekaterina.

Petr Kralert

Unlike Martin, Petr Kralert was a former professional Czech Republic tennis player who marched the court between 1997 and 2007. He enjoyed quite a successful junior career, although he did not get so many achievements as a senior player.

During his junior career, he won the 1996 Banana Bowl and was one of the winners of the Junior Orange Bowl in the Doubles category in the same year. He achieved a junior career highest ranking of 19 and 16 in the Singles and Doubles categories, respectively.

We cannot specify which titles Ekaterina won with him, but he must have been her coach during her successful runs at the ITF circuit. Petr is not known to have worked with any other professional player on the circuit except Ekaterina.

International Achievements Of Ekaterina Alexandrova

Aside from her achievements as an individual player, Ekaterina has also recorded some feats while representing her country, Russia. She became the Russian Number 1 female tennis player in 2019 after a successful run during the 2018 and 2019 tennis seasons.

This achievement earned her a call from the national team to be the captain, and she led the team in her debut match against Romania in the 2020 Fed Cup. Russia was able to win the match, although it was tight.

She was also part of the Russian team that won Prague’s 2021 Billie Jean King Cup Finals. Consequently, she was named a Russian 2021 Tennis Team of the Year member.
