The Danish Delight was born on the 21st of December, 2002, to Soren Tauson and Tine Lindgaard Tauson. Her Father played hockey professionally in Denmark till she was born, and her mother was an elite handball player also in Denmark. Little wonder she is a sports prodigy. Her sisters are Caroline and Cecilia Tauson. She resides in Kongens Lyngby, Denmark.

Clara Tauson started tennis at age 6, but her debut as a tennis player was in 2016 when at age 13, she emerged as the youngest Danish Champion, breaking Caroline Wozniacki’s record. She competed in amateur competitions as a junior from 2013 to 2019 and began her professional career in 2017.

In 2019, she topped the junior world rankings for the first time in Danish history. Clara has nine victories on the professional International Tennis Federation (ITF) Circuit, the first coming when she was just 14 years old. She won the Meitar Open in 2019.

Clara is right-handed. She made her Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) Tour debut in April 2019, and at the 2020 French Open, she made her Grand Slam debut. Clara also competed for Denmark in the Fed Cup, making a 5-5 win-loss record. She finished her junior year among the top 200 WTA players.

Upon starting her senior year, Clara won her first two WTA singles championships at the Lyon Open and Luxembourg Open, in addition to one Challenger and two ITF event victories. In the WTA rankings, she simultaneously rose to number 50. She currently holds position number 33 in the world.

Clara has been frequently compared to Caroline Wozniacki because they share the same nationality. She, however, believes that her style is more aggressive than Caroline’s.

Olivier Jeunehomme and Clara Tauson have worked together at the Justine Henin Academy in Belgium since November 2019. Clara chose to work with Jeunehomme because she wanted to progress professionally.

The 49-year-old pro coach is from Namur, Belgium. He is married and has a son. IESP Haute Ecole Leonard de Vinci is where he received his bachelor’s degree in physical education, sports, and recreation in 1997.

He worked as a Tennis Director at Club & Academy Justine Henin from September 2012- May 2021. He was an Executive Director at the Global Professional Tennis Coach Association (GPTCA) from April 2014- Dec 2017. He was also the Head Coach at the 6^th Sense Tennis Academy by Carlos Rodriguez from April 2008- December 2011.

He is currently a Level 3 qualified coach by the Royal Belgian Tennis Federation, the highest level of certification in Belgium. He worked for RBTF between 2000 and 2007 and is a Belgian Justine Henin Tennis Academy partner. His “WHY” is inspiring people to reach their full potential.

He previously coached Dayana Yastremska from September 2018- September 2019. He led her to her maiden career WTA title in 2018 in Hong Kong and 2019 in Hua Hin. He also coached Sofya Zhuk till she won the 2015 Junior Wimbledon Championship.

Olivier also coached Irina Khromacheva from April 2008 -May 2017, a total of 9 years and 2 months. He helped lead her to 89^th place on the WTA ranking, and she was the 2011 Junior Wimbledon Runner-Up and World Junior Champion.

Another player is Maryna Zanevska, whom he coached to 12^th place in the Junior Ranking and 270^th place in the WTA ranking, and Natalia Ryzhonkova to 285^th place in the WTA ranking. Other notable players are Isabella Shinikova, John Morrissey, Laurent – Olivier Daxhelet and Yannick Vandenbulck.

Oliver helped Clara return Denmark to Europe/Africa Group 1 in the Fed Cup. Following his lead, she also made her maiden career entry into the WTA top 200 in September 2020. She participated in the Grand Slam Tournament, defeating America’s Jennifer Brady, the world’s No. 25.

In 2021, she won her first WTA title, becoming the second youngest player in the top 100. In July, she emerged as the Chicago Challenger winner in the US Open.

Soren Tauson

Soren Tauson, Clara Tauson’s Father, coached her from the beginning of her career till the end of 2019 when Olivier Jeunehomme took over.

He used to play ice hockey professionally till after the birth of Clara. As a player, he represented Hellerup Ik and the Ice hockey club Gentofte for most of his career. He also played for Denmark’s national hockey team.

While he was her coach, she won nine titles, including the Australian Open, and topped the Junior World Ranking. Their separation was on a good note because Clara wished to advance in her career.
