Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka found out her opponent at the tournament in Adelaide, Australia. Against number two in the WTA rankings will be Kaja Juvan who defeated Frenchwoman Chloe Paquet 6/4,6/2 in her opening match of the WTA 500 tournament.
Sabalenka, in an interview before the start of the WTA Adelaide tournament, talked about her priorities for the current season and what could make this the best season of her career.
“I think it will be the best if I win a Grand Slam tournament. Last season, the two matches I lost in the semifinals were a small step toward fulfilling that dream. I was incredibly nervous. Now I feel like I understand how to achieve that goal. I don’t think I’ll be as nervous now for the semifinals of a Grand Slam.
The 23-year-old Sabalenka won two tournaments last season, one in Abu Dhabi and one in Madrid. She has also twice reached the semifinals of Grand Slam tournaments: At Wimbledon, she lost to Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic and at the US Open she lost to Leylah Fernandez of Canada.
We hope this season Aryna will show her best tennis and avoid a lot of mistakes. After all, last season the Belarusian was the leader on the WTA Tour in the number of double faults. In 61 matches she made 296 service errors.
