In his post-match interview, Schwartzman shared his emotions from his 6-1,6-2 victory over Francisco Cerundolo in the final match:
This week was very emotional because my friends and family were at the tournament. Two years ago I made it to the finals, but I lost. That was a sad moment. Luckily, now I was able to beat a great player.
He also had a great week. I’ve been following him since qualifying, we’ve even discussed his matches. I know his family. They were at the same club where I started playing.

Schwartzman didn’t not drop a set all week in Buenos Aires, and only lost his serve three times en route to the trophy.
