If you were planning to check live tennis odds for Anna Tatishvili, then you will sadly have to consider doing it for someone else. The player decided to announce that she is retiring from the tennis world, as she took to Twitter to inform everyone of her plan. This may be quite a weird time to retire as no tennis matches are taking place due to the COVID-19 pandemic, yet it seems she couldn’t wait anymore.
Last year wasn’t the easiest for her, so it seems she decided to put an end to this career and look for something else.
Anna Tatishvili’s Success
The Georgian-born American player made her name known in 2012 when she reached the peak of her career. She got amazing rankings, in singles as well as doubles. In May, she won the No.59 ranking in the world, and then in October, she was No.50. Then in 2015, she managed to win in terms of ranking at the Flushing Meadows too. In just 51 minutes, she succeeded in annoying Karolina Pliskova too, who was World No.8 at the time.
What Are Her Reasons?
Anna Tatishvili posted her announcement of the retirement on Twitter, where she also explained her reasons for retiring. Apparently, her body is not suitable for playing competitive tennis anymore, due to some injuries she’s suffered. “A lot of you have been asking me when my next tournament is and when will you see me back on the court. Unfortunately, due to recurring injuries, my body is not allowing me to play competitive tennis any longer — it turned out that professional tennis is not only a fight on the court but also an equal degree, maybe even more, a fight with injuries.” The Georgian-born player said.
She then went on to say that this is not an easy decision for her, especially since she loved tennis since she was a little girl. But it may be for the best in the long run. “No matter how painful the decision was for me, I had to decide to leave professional tennis and focus on my career off the court,” said Tatishvili at the end of her retirement announcement.
A Difficult Year
2019 was not the best year for the 30-year-old player, because she lost to Maria Sakkari at the Roland Garros. The loss was a 6-0 6-1 one, and it took place in the first round of the tournament.
This may seem like nothing but a normal loss, but it had a big impact on the tennis player. The loss was considered not suitable for the standards of a professional athlete. As a consequence, she lost all of her first-round earnings.
After all of this, she had to hire some lawyers too, to help her change the course of things. She wanted help in getting her name restored and get back her earnings. Luckily, they succeeded, and she got back her €46,000 first-round prize money after it was recognized that she played professionally all the time.
The following tournaments weren’t too good for her either. She lost in the opening rounds both times she participated in these tournaments in June 2019.
Final Thoughts
Tatishvili’s retirement is really bad news for people who loved and supported her over the years, especially those who were also into tennis betting. Now, checking tennis betting odds on the player is not possible anymore, so fans should find someone else to place their bets on. Even though she retires, she will most likely be able to find a career that she loves and will still be happy even without tennis.
