The 27th World No., Ukrainian Lesya Tsurenko, beat Australian Kimberly Birrell, who ranks 283rd in the WTA ranking, with a 6/4, 6/3 score in the second round of the tournament in Brisbane. The meeting lasted 1 hour and 26 minutes.
