The 32nd world number one, Croat Petra Martic, failed to cope with American Sofia Kenin, who is ranked 52nd in the WTA ranking, in the first round of the ASB Classic tournament – 5/7, 6/2, 2/6. The meeting lasted 2 hours and 4 minutes.
