Croatian Donna Vekic commented on her victory over Belarusian Victoria Azarenka.
“It seems to me that today we played better than in San Jose. We both served well. Victoria and I never met before the competition in San Jose, so it’s very strange to play with her twice in three weeks.
I knew that she would fight to the very end, and I needed to stay in the game. Victoria acted aggressively. Fortunately, I managed to win in two sets.
As for Venus, it’s great to see her perform at such a high level. She is a difficult rival. I’ll talk with the trainer and draw up a plan, ”the WTA press service quoted Vekic as saying.
