Latvian tennis player Jelena Ostapenko shared her impressions of her victory in the second round of the tournament in Birmingham.
“I think I had a very good meeting. I had nothing to lose. Konta is in great shape, reached the semifinals at Roland Garros. She plays amazingly on the grass cover. I had no expectations. I just tried to show my best Tennis and act aggressively. I tried not to give the opponent time to make decisions.
This season, I’m being traumatized, so I’m just happy to win two fights in a row. I understand that if I demonstrate a good game, I will have chances for good results. It is the matter of time. Last year I was also injured, because of what I could not fully prepare in the offseason. I lost confidence in my abilities. However, I understand that if I work hard and do not stuff my head with other things, everything will be fine.
I’m still a fighter! I fight in every match. Even when I lose, I still do my best to the maximum. I need to gain stability. Enjoying the game does not think too much, ”the WTA press service quotes Ostapenko as saying.
