Swiss Belinda Bencic commented on her victory over Japanese Naomi Osaka in Indian Wells and the upcoming meeting with the Czech Karoline Pliskova.
“Osaka is the first racket of the world. Over the past few months, she won everything. I am happy with how I played this match. I acted great at serving in the first game and continued to move in that direction later. In the second set the wind rose, but I played tactically right. Naomi and I always get out early for the ball, which I wanted to do today. I was going to impose my game on her. It is common for Osaka to use ball rotation. I tried not to think about my opponent and concentrate on myself and my game. Now I have great shots, and everything works out.
As for Pliskova, we are well acquainted and often train together. Karolina has a powerful pitch and flat and quick punches. But I will try again to concentrate on myself and my tactics. But I do not want to think about it now. Often, the less thought on the court, the better, “- says Bencic WTA press service.
