The 15th racket of the world, German Julia Goerges, lost to American Alison Riske, who is 51st in the WTA ranking, with a 4/6, 5/7 score at the start of the tournament in Dubai.
Tennis players spent on the court 1 hour 46 minutes. During this time, the 30-year-old Goerges completed five aces, made four wrong mistakes when serving and sold four break points while the 28-year-old Riske served twice, made five double mistakes and made six breaks.
