The 48th World No., Victoria Azarenka from Belarus, beat her compatriot Vera Lapko, who is at the 62nd line in the WTA rating, with a score of 6/2, 6/3 at the start of the Indian Wells tournament.
The match lasted 1 hour and 23 minutes. During this time, 29-year-old Azarenka completed two aces, made four wrong mistakes when serving and sold six break points, and 20-year-old Lapko served right through five times, made one double mistake and made two breaks.
