American Serena Williams commented on her refusal to continue the fight in the final tournament in Toronto.
“The problems started even during my semifinal match. Today the situation worsened. My back was torn from cramps that prevented me from sleeping and moving. I thought how to play in the finals, if I can’t move, but I should at least try. I hoped for a miracle.
This has happened before. About 24-36 hours, I am tormented by severe spasms, which then pass. It makes me sad because I can play. But not now, not at this very moment.
Will I perform in Cincinnati? Yes, we’ll see how everything goes together, ”the WTA press service quoted Serena as saying.
