In the middle of the current season, Russian tennis player Karen Khachanov is in very good playing shape. Most recently he played incredible tennis at Wimbledon, reaching the quarterfinals where he lost to Canada’s Denis Shapovalov in five sets. Now the winner of four ATP tournaments, Karen Khachanov is at his best at the Tokyo Olympics as the Russian is in the semifinals after beating Frenchman Ugo Humbert,-7/6,4/6,6/3.
Russian semi-finals
In an interview with Sport Express, the Russian commented on his victory today and his possible opponent in the semifinals.
It was much nicer to play today compared to the other days. It was still a little hot at 3, but it was cloudy today, the sun wasn’t as scorching. Postponing the matches to a later time is better for everyone. The Frenchman has improved a lot in the last month and a half, beating good tennis players. He came out charged. It seemed to me he had a good level from start to finish. Only two break points in the match. Glad I held my serve in the third set. I’ll keep an eye on Daniil’s match. He’s a potential challenger for me. I’ll be rooting for him. I hope we play him in the semifinals.

Olympic tennis champion Yevgeny Kafelnikov commented on Karen Khachanov’s victory over Ugo Humbert in the quarterfinals of the Tokyo Olympics
We hoped there would be results, but as far as Karen is concerned, they exceeded all expectations. I’m without exception insanely happy for him. Really got a chance to win an Olympic medal. We’ll be rooting for him.
